I'm MK.
Well, technically, I'm MaryKathryn.
Early on in my career, I was working at an international disaster response NGO when a war started. As a fundraising assistant, I was processing donations that went directly towards relief efforts for people caught in the war zone.
Unconsciously, I stopped spending the time to type out "MaryKathryn," because those were precious seconds I could instead use to get more cash in the door to help more people. I started signing emails as "MK," and before I knew it, people were calling me MK.
So, that's how I became MK.
It shouldn't come as a surprise that I'm neurotic about efficiency and optimizing time and resources to maximize impact--to the extent that I accidentally changed my name. Fortunately, I like "MK."
I fell into fundraising by accident but it was love at first sight. What could be better than making an incredible difference in the world through the power of community? Philanthropy is my happy place.
Well, to clarify, effective philanthropy.
A good fundraising program utilizes the golden trifecta of good data, moving creative, and authentic connections between people.
Figure out how to optimize your data and systems, and you get to spend more time on telling a compelling story and building relationships that yield transformational gifts.
Use data and creative to figure out what makes your donors tick, and you will have much more confidence (and fun!) deepening your donors' relationship with your organization.
When all three are in alignment, you can achieve great fundraising results and reach lofty goals without pulling your hair out. (Most of the time.)
Do you feel like the data strategy of your fundraising program isn't "clicking?" Do you feel like your donor services team is spending way too much time on tasks that aren't yielding a good return-on-investment? Is your CRM/database a mystery you can't unravel?
Let me help! Get in touch with me to talk about your organization's problems and let's discuss some potential solutions. I'd love to hear from you!
